Swell is wedged into the row of beach clubs on Los Muertos, and it is the one that does not charge you for the privilege of sitting down. No minimum spend, no day pass. Order a drink or a plate and the chair is yours for as long as you want it. That policy is also its problem: in high season you need a reservation for a beach lounger, which sounds ridiculous until you turn up at noon and find every one taken. The kitchen does coconut shrimp and the usual beach menu, competently. What you are really paying for is a front row seat on the busiest beach in Vallarta without a wristband, and a long afternoon that tends to end with you knowing everyone around you.
