El Dorado has held the southern end of Playa Los Muertos long enough to be treated as a landmark rather than an option. The draw is the double act at dusk: the sun drops into the Pacific in front of you, and then the Los Muertos pier switches on and does its own show while you are still sitting there. Most people order seafood and a bucket of beer and stay for both. It is not a quiet spot and it does not pretend to be, sitting where the beach is busiest, but the seat is directly on the sand and the view is the one people came to Vallarta to see.
