Captain Don’s Habitat is one of the older dive operations on Bonaire, sitting on the coast road north of Kralendijk, and Rum Runners is the bar attached to it. The doors open at seven in the morning, which tells you exactly who the clientele is: people who want to eat before a first dive, and people who never quite went to bed. The rum shelf is the draw, deep enough to justify a proper tasting rather than a single pour, and Monday night is the barbecue. Wooden tables, colorful paint, water on one side, tanks getting filled on the other. It is not trying to be a beach club and would probably be offended by the suggestion. Come off the boat salty, order something aged, and watch the light go.
