La Rustica sits directly in front of the El Anclote surf break, which makes it the rare beach club where the entertainment is free and happening in the water. The kitchen is wood-fired and Italian leaning, so it is pizza and pasta rather than ceviche, an odd fit for a Nayarit fishing beach that somehow works. Toes in the sand, a drinks list with some thought behind it, and a west-facing position that puts the sunset directly in front of the tables. Lunch, dinner, or just the cocktail at the end of the day.
Note: This one runs as a beach club rather than a walk-up bar. Expect a day pass, a minimum spend, or both. Worth knowing before you wander in barefoot expecting a bar stool.
