Ask for the grilled fish at Castaway and somebody will steer you toward the fried red snapper instead, which is worth listening to because it is the thing they are proud of. It is a small operation near the western end of the boardwalk with a short menu, a bucket-of-beer habit, and staff who will set you up on the sand with chairs and an umbrella and then carry the order out rather than making you walk back for it. Nine to five most days, later on Fridays and Saturdays, which is unusual on a strip that mostly clocks off with the ships. Fewer reviews than its neighbours simply because it is newer and quieter. The jerk chicken gets named nearly as often as the snapper.
There are more like it in the St. Martin and Sint Maarten guide.
