Casitas Maraika sits on Playa del Caballo, a cove south of Boca de Tomatlan with no road to it. You arrive by water taxi or you walk the coastal trail, and either way the trip is part of the point. What waits is a small beach backed by jungle and cliff, a bar, a kitchen and a set of hillside casitas, with none of the noise of the town beaches because none of the day trippers who cannot be bothered with a boat ever turn up. Bring cash, check the last boat back before you get comfortable, and plan the day around the tide rather than the clock.
Note: This one runs as a beach club rather than a walk-up bar. Expect a day pass, a minimum spend, or both. Worth knowing before you wander in barefoot expecting a bar stool.
