Where the Cotee River empties toward the Gulf, Whiskey Joe’s Port Richey does the thing most waterfront restaurants only talk about: it puts actual sand, actual fire pits, and actual couches out on the water and lets you stay until dark. Boats tie up at the docks, dogs are welcome at the tiki bar though not in the sand, and the sunset here faces west across open water with nothing in the way. The menu runs oysters Rockefeller, mahi tacos, and a calamari plate that comes with fried banana peppers thrown in. Service can lag when the place is packed, which it usually is around sunset, so order a round before you need it.
