The Still and West is a Grade II-listed Fuller’s pub on Bath Square in Old Portsmouth, parked right at the harbour mouth where the water squeezes through into the Solent. There is almost always a breeze, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on the month. The spit it stands on is Portsmouth Point, known locally as Spice Island, a name it earned back when the area sat outside the city walls and outside the city bylaws, and the drinking dens and the press gangs both did well out of that.
What you are really there for is the traffic. The Spinnaker Tower on one side, the Historic Dockyard behind, a working harbour in front, so the entertainment is whatever happens to be coming and going.
A pint of Seafarers and a hot afternoon is the intended use. Dogs are welcome.
