Sargasso is out on the stone pier at Margate, on the Harbour Arm, which means the view points back at the town rather than out to sea. Main Sands, the promenade and Margate’s collision of architecture all line up in front of you.
The position does most of the work. You can walk to it after the galleries, Dreamland or the Turner Contemporary, and the kitchen leans coastal with sharing plates rather than a full sit-down menu.
Order the Muz red vermouth and soda. If the tide and your judgment happen to agree, the bay is right there for a late swim.
