HAO is the oceanfront bar at the Thompson on Playa La Ropa, and it runs the most serious cocktail programme on this stretch of the Guerrero coast, which is a low bar to clear and it clears it by a distance anyway. Seating is either at the bar or in the sand lounge below it, and the sunset is the reason to time your arrival. Thursdays bring a grill out, with seafood and cuts cooked oceanside while a band plays. It prices like a hotel bar because it is one, but the drinks justify the walk up the beach.
