Cerritos is the beach that taught half of Baja California Sur to surf, a forgiving break an hour north of Cabo San Lucas that tolerates beginners and still gives everyone else something to do. Surfside sits on it, and functions as the spot people fall into between sessions: fish tacos, guacamole, cold beer, sand still on everybody. Boards and lessons are available a few steps away, so the crowd is a mix of people who surfed this morning and people about to be talked into it this afternoon. Nothing about it is polished, and on a beach like this that is the correct answer.
