Drive to the far end of Aruba, past the San Nicolas refinery, and keep going until the road runs out at Baby Beach. That is where Rum Reef sits. Adults only, with an infinity pool built so precisely that people routinely cannot tell where it stops and the Caribbean starts. Sea turtles cruise past below. The bar list does not mess around either: Monkey Juice, Mau’s Rum Punch, and the Lionfish, which is their own reworking of a Long Island Iced Tea and about as advisable as that sounds. Mornings are slow and quiet. By afternoon the staff are handing shooters to people standing in the pool. There is a small fee for the loungers, Dutch snack platters if you need ballast, and roughly an hour of driving between here and your hotel. Worth it.
