Deep in Somerset County in Westover, Goose Creek Pit and Pub combines serious slow-smoked BBQ with a pub format and the genuinely remote Eastern Shore character of one of Maryland’s least-visited counties. The BBQ is the draw; the pub atmosphere is comfortable; and the whole operation has the direct, unfussy character of a place that exists because a community out here deserves a good bar and a great rack of ribs. A long way off the tourist circuit; completely worth the detour.

We Haven’t Been Here Yet

The Beach Bar Bum hasn’t made it to Goose Creek Pit and Pub yet. Budget cuts, tragic. But there’s water, drinks, and zero shoe policy, so it’s on the list. We just need a brave soul to confirm it’s real, preferably with a cold drink in hand.
