On Smith Island, accessible only by ferry from Crisfield, the Bayside Inn is one of the Chesapeake’s most remote and most authentic dining and drinking destinations. Smith Island is the last inhabited offshore island in Maryland with a permanent year-round population, and the Bayside serves the community with the crab cakes, steamed blue crabs, and local seafood that its residents have been harvesting from the surrounding waters for generations.
