On Cabbage Key (a small, remote island in Pine Island Sound accessible only by boat, tucked between Pine Island and Cayo Costa in Charlotte Harbor), the Old House is one of the most legendary and most distinctive waterfront bars in all of Florida. The bar is famously wallpapered floor to ceiling with thousands of signed dollar bills left by generations of visiting boaters, creating one of the most extraordinary and most visually arresting interiors of any bar in the country. Jimmy Buffett reportedly visited Cabbage Key and was inspired to write Cheeseburger in Paradise here.
