We haven't made it to this bar yet, but here is what we know

PigDog Beach Bar sits wedged between the Atlantic Ocean and the Raging Waters slides at Morey’s Piers, which tells you everything you need to know about the energy level here. This is Wildwood at its most barefoot and unapologetic: smoked brisket, pulled pork, trash can nachos, live music daily from 11:30am, dogs welcome on the beach level, and a 32-ounce pitcher of Bloody Mary that doubles as an appetizer sampler. Private cabanas are available on the beach, kids run between the water park and the ocean, and the boardwalk crowd pours in off Schellenger Ave all day. It’s the kind of beach bar that takes the bar and the barbecue equally seriously, and delivers on both.

About that name. PigDog’s own homepage defines it as the stance used for surfing tubes on your backhand: the surfer crouches low over a bent front knee, back leg extended, outside hand gripping the outside rail, inside arm reaching up to touch the face of the wave as a guide, or digging in to slow down. It is a real surfing term and it has been one since the early eighties. The joke is that it also works as a straight description of the menu, given the pulled pork and the dogs asleep under the beach tables.

The signature drink is the Wild Wooder, a cocktail built for two with rum, citrus, orgeat and a heavy pour of pineapple. Access is by ramp from either the boardwalk or the beach, so nobody has to negotiate stairs with a tray.

We Haven’t Been Here Yet
The Beach Bar Bum hasn’t made it to PigDog Beach Bar yet. Budget cuts, tragic. But there’s water, drinks, and zero shoe policy, so it’s on the list. We just need a brave soul to confirm it’s real, preferably with a cold drink in hand.
