From the outside, Hi Dive looks like a dive bar. Inside, the art deco touches are a surprise. The real draw is the side patio right on the Embarcadero at Pier 28, with bay views that justify the walk from BART. This is pre-Giants game territory, casual enough for flip-flops, positioned well enough that the bay view makes the usual sports bar margarita feel considerably better. Fish tacos, BLTs, burgers: nothing complicated, all reliably solid. Locals use it for a leisurely afternoon walk along the Embarcadero with a necessary stop in the middle. The Infatuation calls it the waterfront drinking spot, full stop.
