Built in 1938 at the corner of Las Olas and Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, the Elbo Room has been the heartbeat of Fort Lauderdale’s beach scene for nearly 90 years. The bar earned its national reputation when it was prominently featured in the 1960 spring break film “Where the Boys Are,” and it hasn’t changed much since — which is precisely the point. Two floors of open-air, cash-only, no-frills beach bar energy, with live bands playing from 11 AM daily, cheap drinks in plastic cups, and a crowd that blends flip-flop locals with visitors from every corner of the world. When the Florida Panthers won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2024 and 2025, they celebrated here. This is Fort Lauderdale’s beach bar — full stop.
