Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal Waterway has plenty of waterfront dining options, but 15th Street Fisheries has maintained its reputation as one of the most genuinely special for a reason that has nothing to do with the menu: tarpon. The dock stretches out over the water where massive tarpon, some pushing six feet, have been hand-fed by staff and patrons for so long they practically commute here. Watching a 150-pound fish casually surface for a snack while you sip a cocktail is one of those distinctly Florida moments that can’t be manufactured. The seafood is fresh and well-prepared, the views of passing boats on the Intracoastal are consistently excellent, and the atmosphere leans classic Fort Lauderdale rather than trendy. Open for 25-plus years and still one of the best seats on the water. Book ahead on weekends.
