The largest beach bar in Texas, and it is not close. Clayton’s on South Padre Island at 6900 Padre Blvd is a sprawling, multi-bar beachfront complex directly on the Gulf with live music stages, multiple covered bars and open-air seating areas, beach volleyball, tether ball, and the best Gulf of Mexico views on the island. National touring acts and Texas legends have both played the stage; Spring Break has been the annual proving ground for decades; and the casual, anything-goes Gulf Coast beach bar energy (cold Bush Light on draft, nachos from the window, bands covering Ernest Tubb and Darius Rucker) makes Clayton’s one of the great Texas beach experiences. The parking lot has potholes the size of zip codes. The bar is worth it.
