Well, when you name your place, “The Beach Bar”, you definitely set an expectation. And I’m happy to tell you, they live up to it.
The Beach Bar is within stumbling distance to the Cruz Bay ferry dock, so it’s a great first or last stop. And stops in between. And late nights. And early mornings. Ok fine, pretty much anytime. The Beach Bum has no regrets.
The Full Story
Few things please a beach bum more than a spacious bar overlooking blue water, and The Beach Bar delivers harder than a rum punch to the face. The centerpiece is a pie-shaped bar with seating on every side. There’s also seating and countertops facing the ocean, just off the beach. And if that’s not close enough for you, grab a picnic table in the sand.
The menu is pretty standard, offering breakfast in the morning, giving way to traditional beach fare after 11 am. The cocktails are delicious, and while I’m not much for frozen drinks, I can tell you that they are pretty darn tasty. Lucky for me I was sitting right in front of the prep area for one of the bartenders, and she — obviously, someone who hated to waste — was kind enough to have me taste all the leftovers. I may have been the easiest bartender shift of her career. Talk about a willing audience.
The Beach Bar has it all: fun drinks, a great/convenient location, awesome bartenders, live music most nights, and views that you can’t beat. I’d list the flaws, but I couldn’t find any — and trust me, I looked. Mostly from a bar seat. With a drink. Going down as a Beach Bum fav!
Beach Bar Bum’s Prime Seat:
This is one of those rare bars where it’s easier to tell you where not to sit, which would be at the bar with your back to that great vista. Unless staring at a wall of liquor bottles is your thing — in which case, no judgment, we’ve all been there. The picnic tables are perfect, and the hightop facing the ocean – just to the side of the bar – is pretty choice as well. It’s hard to go wrong here!
