The social center of Block Island, Ballard’s Beach Resort is the iconic New Shoreham beach bar and resort that has been the island’s most festive and most welcoming destination since 1932: a sprawling beachfront complex with cold cocktails, fresh seafood, live music daily in season, and the warm, democratic energy of a beach resort that manages to serve everyone from summer families to college weekenders to the sailing crowd with equal enthusiasm. The ferry from Point Judith or Newport delivers you to the dock; Ballard’s is visible from the water.

We Haven’t Been Here Yet

The Beach Bar Bum hasn’t made it to Ballard’s Beach Resort Block Island yet. Budget cuts, tragic. But there’s water, drinks, and zero shoe policy, so it’s on the list. We just need a brave soul to confirm it’s real, preferably with a cold drink in hand.
