Destin’s oldest beachfront restaurant, open since 1974 and located at the exact same spot on Scenic Highway 98 where it first served Gulf seafood over charcoal more than 50 years ago. The Back Porch invented the Amberjack sandwich, and the Emerald Coast has been ordering it ever since: chargrilled, bronzed, blackened, or fried, served with fresh local fish brought in daily. Appalachicola oysters raw or baked with crabmeat and cheese, grouper, mahi-mahi, and snapper all come off an open flame that hasn’t changed because it doesn’t need to. The deck sits directly on the sugar-white Destin sand. Happy Hour 3–5 PM daily. This is where Destin’s Gulf seafood story begins.
