Whiskey Joe’s sits out on the Courtney Campbell Causeway with Old Tampa Bay wrapped around three sides of it, which is about as close to a beach as Tampa proper gets. There is real sand here, a proper beach bar with volleyball courts beyond it, and a tiki bar that stays busy from happy hour until the last band packs up. The kitchen leans Flor-ribean, so expect alligator bites and blackened grouper alongside the ribs and burgers, and expect the place to be loud when a game is on. It is big, it is corporate, and none of that changes the fact that the sunset over the bay from a sand-floor table is genuinely hard to beat.
