THIS is the epitome of a marina bar. More water views than is probably legally allowed, two (count ’em, two) massive bars with that open air Florida feel. It’s the kind of place that feels like coming home even if it’s your first visit. And yes – it’s in a marina, there isn’t any sand to be seen, so is certainly bending the rules and definition of a “beach” bar, but that’s a stipulation that you can figure out for yourself. As for me, I’ll have another ice cold beer and continue my conversation with the 18 foot shark suspended over the bar, thank you very much.
The Full Story
Two Georges Waterfront Grille has anchored Boynton Harbor Marina since 1957, making it older than most of the marina slips around it. And the thirsty traveler crowd owes them a debt of gratitude. Get here between 3pm and 6pm weekdays, and save yourself 30% on alcohol – heck, they’re just begging you to have that margarita.
The space is massive, and mostly covered seating, so rain or excessive sun won’t water down your cocktail. The menu is equally as large; if you can’t find something here you just aren’t even trying. Of course they serve fresh-caught fish, and if you’re fortunate enough to have hooked your own, they’ll cook it right up for you.
Sports fans, rejoice – while my favorite viewing pastime includes water views and marine craft, I also appreciate keeping up with the scores of whatever sporting event happens to be sporting. You’ll be in good shape here, as there are as many TVs as there are beer choices. There’s also live music, daily specials, and everything else that a bar that’s been slinging drinks for 60 years has learned to provide.
Insider Tips
Once the tab’s closed and the catfish are fed, don’t head for your car just yet. Tiki Taxi & Cruises docks about thirty feet down the same marina, running an hourly tiki-bar boat up and down the Intracoastal Thursday through Sunday. Grab a spot, ride it out and back, and you’ve turned a meal into an afternoon without ever moving your vehicle. Locals treat it as a package deal, and they’re not wrong.
Beach Bar Bum’s Prime Seat
You have to work hard here to screw this up. There are so many water view options, it’s crazy. But if you can grab any of the tables along the rail overlooking the water, you’ll have the best of the best.
