The Parrot occupies the spot on Hull Shore Drive that locals have claimed as their own for generations, overlooking Nantasket Beach from a building that’s been a South Shore institution under various names for decades. Chef Brian Houlihan revived it and elevated the menu (haddock piccata, Portuguese seafood stew, scratch-kitchen tacos) while keeping the beach bar DNA intact. The rooftop deck offers panoramic views of the Atlantic and multiple bars mean there’s rarely a wait. The blood orange margarita has built a loyal following among regulars who know better than to leave without ordering one. Boston is 45 minutes by car, 30 by ferry, making The Parrot an easy escape from the city and a natural anchor for a Nantasket Beach day.

We Haven’t Been Here Yet

The Beach Bar Bum hasn’t made it to The Parrot yet. Budget cuts, tragic. But there’s water, drinks, and zero shoe policy, so it’s on the list. We just need a brave soul to confirm it’s real, preferably with a cold drink in hand.
