A Hanalei institution since 1963 and one of the most beloved and most genuinely legendary dive bars in all of Hawaii, the Tahiti Nui was founded by Louise Marston, a Tahitian woman whose warmth and force of personality built a bar that became the social center of Kauai’s north shore community and attracted everyone from local fishermen to Hollywood celebrities filming in the surrounding mountains and valleys. Cold beers, strong cocktails, live music, and the warm, authentic north shore Kauai character that only sixty years of one community’s gathering place can create. Still family-owned and still exactly what it has always been.
