Shipwreck Bar at Kona Village, a Rosewood Resort, is built around an actual salvaged schooner — the former vessel of the resort’s original owner, Johnno Jackson — that now sits permanently beached on the shore of Kahuwai Bay, framed by coconut palms and the Pacific sunset. The bar was part of the original Kona Village resort that operated for decades before closing, and the Rosewood renovation brought it back to life with a reverence for its history. The cocktail menu nods to the classics: Conrad’s Mai Tai, a Lilikoi Margarita, a Campari-pineapple-passion fruit blend named after Mick the Myna bird who once ruled the property. Sushi runs Tuesday through Saturday evenings. It’s one of the most dramatic bar settings in Hawaii — which is saying a lot.
