Prickly Pear Cay sits about six miles north of Road Bay, a pair of uninhabited islands split by a narrow boat channel into Prickly Pear East and Prickly Pear West. Nobody lives out here, which means the bar and grill is the whole reason to make the crossing. The kitchen runs family-style and it all lands at once: grilled whole lobster, Pirate Cay Rum Shrimp, mahi mahi, BBQ baby back ribs, Caribbean rice and peas. The top package folds an open bar into the per-person price, so the rum punch keeps coming without a tab. Shoes stay off. When the plates clear there are paddleboards, kayaks, snorkel gear and a seabob to rent, beach massages if you want one, and bird-watching hikes on request. Reservations run through the website, and on a cay this small you want one.
