Lone Star basically invented the neighborhood’s now-crowded upscale scene, and it still shows the way: breezy covered seating over a gorgeous beach, a corner bar with automotive prints and imaginative cocktails, and a genuinely excellent kitchen. It’s a place to see and be seen, and it knows it, but the welcome is warm enough that the Kir Royales go down easy either way.

Barbados’s reigning nightlife institution on Carlisle Bay — two dance floors, unlimited house drinks, soca and reggae until sunrise, and turtle tours during the day if you can manage it.
