One of the last true Florida beach bars, Ka’Tiki at 8803 W Gulf Blvd on Sunset Beach has been doing it right since 1982: a tiki hut covering the outdoor patio, the Gulf of Mexico steps away, world-class sunsets every evening, live music seven nights a week from local and national acts, pub style food, a game room, and the no-cover-ever policy that has made it a fiercely loyal local institution. The tagline is “Locals Know” and it’s earned: Ka’Tiki has been described as a no-aggravation location by the regulars who have been coming since before some of their bartenders were born. Cold beer, live music on the beach, and a Florida sunset. That’s the entire formula and it has never needed improving.
