A laid-back waterfront bar in Tilghman on the Choptank River side of the island, Bar Mumbo captures the unpretentious, genuine character of one of the last real working waterman communities on the Eastern Shore. Tilghman Island’s skipjack fleet is still active, and the bar community that gathers here includes the people who actually work the Bay, a rarity in a region where waterman culture is more often commemorated than lived. Cold beer, crabs in season, and the real Chesapeake.
